Sudbury Newstalk.
Sudbury Newstalk, an independent charity, was formed 28 years ago with help from Sudbury Leos (a youth charity associated with Lions International). Part of a nationwide network of Newstalk organizations, it records a fortnightly newspaper and a bi-monthly magazine for the visually impaired, which are distributed within a radius of around 10 miles from the town. All the people who contribute – readers, editors and technicians – are unpaid volunteers and, by keeping the individual cells local, Newstalk is able to deliver relevant information to recipients, such as walking hazards and chemists’ opening hours. The digital revolution is demanding an upgrade of the equipment used, which will be part funded by the donation gratefully received.
